SYNIGENCE, QUINTILES SIGN EXCLUSIVE CO-MARKETING AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE U.K. GPs WITH NEW ERA OF HEALTH DATA VIA CLINNIX PRO

BRACKNELL, U.K. - July 30, 2001 - Quintiles Transnational Corp. (Nasdaq: QTRN) and Synigence PLC today announced an exclusive co-marketing agreement to electronically deliver healthcare information and services to general practitioners in the United Kingdom via Synigence's Clinnix Pro application.

The agreement builds on a relationship first started in October 1999 and will allow Synigence and Quintiles' Innovex commercialization unit to promote a wide range of e-business solutions to general practitioners in the U.K. via a secure network. Clinnix Pro currently is used by more than 11,000 GPs, and should be on more than half of all GP desktops in the U.K. by October.

Through Clinnix Pro, GPs can access a broad range of peer-reviewed health information, including news bulletins, patient advice and treatment guideline databases. In addition, GPs can transmit and receive secure e-mail directly from Clinnix Pro. Clinnix Pro's easy-to-navigate content and services are updated hourly and can be accessed instantly.

Innovex will use Clinnix Pro to help healthcare professionals obtain continuing medical education, participate in market research and access information about medicines, among other uses.

"We are delighted to have concluded this agreement with Quintiles, which is the leader in providing pharmaceutical development and commercialization services to healthcare organizations in the U.K. and worldwide," said Laurence Greetham, Chief Executive Officer of Synigence. "They have chosen us as a co-marketing partner in the belief that together we are best suited to attract the e-commerce and electronic promotional spend of companies seeking to market within the professional services sector in the U.K."

Quintiles Europe President Andrew Howden said: "With almost 80 percent of Clinnix Pro users accessing it three to 10 times a day, Clinnix Pro demonstrates a level of value to GPs. This offers a valuable channel for healthcare organizations to provide the information and services that healthcare professionals demand."

As part of the agreement between the two companies, Quintiles has made an investment in Synigence through the purchase of Synigence ordinary shares by Quintiles' PharmaBio Development group and cash for exclusivity rights related to the co-marketing agreement between the two companies.
